January Training Hub

Here’s everything you need to know about our January Training, as well as a one stop shop for any resources and recordings from the evenings.

Every January we take a break from Homegroups and Pizza & Prayer, to give space for us to look at one of our values, to equip and encourage us as a church. This year we will be looking at our value, ‘Prioritising God's Word’ and how it applies to us, corporately and individually.

Join us in person if you can on Wednesday 10th, 17th and 24th.

We’ll enjoy food together from 19:30, something different each week. Then at 8pm we’ll gather to consider the content through talks and seminars, until 9:30pm.

You will be able to join on zoom if you are not able to be in the room. The link will be in Town Church Weekly as well as a heads up about what we’ll be eating that week.

WHY PRIORITISE GOD’S WORD?

God’s word is central to all we do at Town Church, because we believe that it is the inspired word of God. Here’s what we say state in our statement on faith, which is a useful place to start in setting out why we would consider this value together in our January training.

‘God has revealed himself in the Bible, which consists of the Old and New Testaments alone. Every word was inspired by God through human authors, so that the Bible as originally given is in its entirety the Word of God, without error and fully reliable in fact and doctrine. The Bible alone speaks with final authority and is always sufficient for all matters of belief and practice.’

So, we hope that this January, we will understand both the underpinning doctrine of why we prioritise God’s word and then how that shapes our practice as the people of Town Church

  1. Prioritising God’s Word because it is inspired and inerrant

What does it mean that the Bible is God's own words? How does this shape how we hold it up as our authority and how we each seek to listen carefully to what God has to say? We trust that the Bible is absolute truth, without error and so, how we want to think about how to handle it carefully.

2. Prioritising God’s Word because it is clear

We trust that Scripture is clear: God is clear in His communication to his people in the Bible and so we want to think practically about how we can handle God’s word and read it with others.

3. Prioritising God’s Word because it is sufficient

The Bible is completely sufficient. All things necessary for salvation and Christian living are found in God’s word and by the spirit we continued to be transformed by it.
